How do I shut off water to my house?

Your main shutoff valve is located in one of 2 places. The shutoff would be either in your garage or in a crawl access inside your house.

Shut Off Valve Inside House:

Locate crawl access inside closet or under stairwell.

Open crawl lid and you should be able to see shutoff valve close by. If you don’t see it, feel around the insulation or under a floor joist. If you still don’t see or feel it, look and see if there is another crawl access and check there.

When water is turned on the valve handle is in-line with the pipe.

When you turn handle to a 90 degree angle from pipe then the water is turned off.

Shutoff Valve in Garage:

The valve is located either near garage floor or close to the water heater.

When water is turned on the valve handle is in-line with the pipe.

When you turn handle to a 90 degree angle from pipe then the water is turned off.
